How many of you have a gym membership?
Maybe a better question: How many of you USE that gym membership?
Sometimes it’s a hassle to even go to LA Fitness or Virgin Active or whatever studio or weight room you frequent. And I couldn’t agree more. There’s friction with going to the gym; change clothes, get in your car, drive to the gym, fight for benches and squat racks. (People curling in the squat rack need to just stop it).
However, there is a movement coming to fruition lately. Calisthenics is becoming the vegan option of the lifting realm. Hell, the word “calisthenics” sounds like a Targaryen heir.
Why not move your body without added weight? The benefits are enormous:
- You become a master of your own body (a.k.a. better mind-muscle connection).
- What’s cooler in the real world: Benching 315 or repping one-arm push-ups?
- Coupled with yoga or stretching, you become more flexible.
- *You can workout anywhere.*
